David Berron is a Research Group Leader and Head of the Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience Group at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Magdeburg, Germany. He trained in psychology at the University of Bremen and completed his PhD in cognitive neuroscience at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, followed by postdoctoral research at Lund University’s Clinical Memory Research Unit and the Swedish BioFINDER study. His work combines high-resolution 7T neuroimaging with remote, smartphone-based cognitive testing to track how Alzheimer’s disease affects the brain’s memory networks, from the earliest preclinical stages through symptom onset, with the aim of earlier diagnosis and better monitoring. As co-founder and Chief Science Officer of neotiv, he brings remote digital cognitive assessments into healthcare and clinical trial settings.
